A beautiful 120-foot retractable awning was purchased and installed over
the back balcony and sliding doors were installed from the cafeteria,
giving residents more access to fresh air in a comfortable outdoor setting.

Maimonides recently completed a terrace off the newly-renovated coffee
shop. The cedar and steel structure has been specially designed to meet
our residents needs.

The first floor has been transformed with a renovated lobby, coffee shop
and gift shop. The new lobby area includes a larger entranceway with
specially-adapted sliding doors, an air-conditioned living-room for family
visits, an eating area with floor-to-ceiling windows and specially-designed
tables and chairs to best accommodate our residents. The project was funded
jointly by the Foundation and the Auxiliary.

The Maimonides Foundation recently purchased several specialized mattresses
for the treatment and prevention of pressure sores.

Maimonides is proud to be expanding its relationship with McGill and the
Jewish General Hospital by having Dr. Manuel Montero as the first Fellow in
the Maimonides/McGill/JGH Division of Geriatric Medicine Fellowship
Program.

The Foundation recently purchased several state-of-the art standing lifts
to facilitate quick, efficient position changes with tremendous comfort for
the resident.

The Foundation is committed to ensuring our nurses are able to upgrade
their skills through Nursing Bursaries. By providing funding to improve
nurses skills and abilities, the Foundation is helping the residents get
the best possible care.
Cost-to-date: $20,000
Over the past two years, the Foundation has purchased wheelchairs to meet
the individual needs of our residents. Over 80% of residents at Maimonides
use wheelchairs to get around.

Ombudsman on staff, serving as a liaison between residents, family members and all departments of the Centre in order to ensure that every resident receives the best possible care, in a humane, dignified and respectful manner. |
