Tournament raises close to $300,000

The 17th annual Maimonides RBC Dominion Securities Golf Tournament was held on Thursday, June 5th 2008 at Elm Ridge Country Club. The weather was perfect as we had a record number of corporate sponsors and raised close to $300,000 in one of Montreal's premier fundraising events.

We are especially indebted to our sponsors, without whom the tournament would not have been possible. For the fourth year in a row, the Maimonides Golf tournament has been known as the Maimonides RBC DS tournament in recognition of a very generous donation from RBC-Dominion Securities. RBC DS is dedicated to enriching the lives of Maimonides' residents through its community support.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Scotia McLeod and Janis Kraut for their 11 year commitment to this tournament, Morty Brownstein and Browns Shoes, who is one of the longest-running sponsors of the tournament, in its 15th year. Britton Electric has been our T-shirt Sponsor for 3 years. Delmar and the Cutler/ Wagen families are the sponsor of the Golf Carts.

Thank you to Margaret and Larry Nachshen along with Julie and Gary Nachshen for sponsoring the cocktails. The Nachshens have been supporting this tournament since 1997- 11 years!! Gluskin, Sheff and Associates are returning for the third year, sponsoring the brunch. Russell Investments and the Quallenberg Wealth Management Group, supporters since 2001 are this year's sponsors of the new photo mugs. We thank Arjo, who has been a supporter of Maimonides for 9 years. Arjo upgraded their sponsorship this year to be our Locker Room sponsor.

All of the golfers, sponsors and generous donors showed their commitment to the Suite Dreams Capital Renovation Campaign. This project, well underway, will see the total refurbishment of all of the residents' rooms with dramatic changes to furniture, lighting, flooring, closets and bathrooms. The renovations will be completed a full 2 years ahead of schedule thanks to the generosity of our donors!!!

Putting on a successful golf tournament is a huge undertaking. It is a phenomenal collective effort by a wonderful team of caring and dedicated individuals.
