SEVENTH ANNUAL MAIMONIDES BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Two-Nights with new performers and plenty of surprises
October 1, 2009— A new band called The Hip Replacements and plenty of surprises promises another rock’n good time at the seventh annual Maimonides Battle of the Bands on December 1st and 2nd, 2009 at Metropolis. “From the beginning, the Maimonides Battle of the Bands has established itself as the most fun charity event of the year. This is now our seventh year and it promises to be the best show yet,” says Freddie Naimer who co-chairs this year’s Battle of the Bands along with Gerry Kandestin.
The Maimonides Battle of the Bands features baby-boomer bands, made up of dentists, doctors, lawyers, stockbrokers and entrepreneurs who showcase their musical talent to raise money for Maimonides Geriatric Centre. The 2009 two-night extravaganza will take place on Tuesday December 1st and Wednesday December 2nd at METROPOLIS with monies raised going towards Suite Dreams, a capital refurbishment now in its final phase. Back by popular demand, Maimonides will be rolling out the red carpet for its sponsors and special guests with a cocktail reception in the Delmar VIP Lounge before the show featuring Que Sera with Joanne Cutler and Howard Wallace.
On December 1st, The Dynamics with front-man Jeff Solomon will perform along with Here’s Johnny, featuring Johnny Miller, back for a second year. Switchback includes Freddie Naimer and Elliott Schuchat. UB Over 40 with Morris Dascal and team rounds out the first night.
On December 2nd, NEW this year, The Hip Replacements includes Steven Lubotta, Paul Azeff and Andrew Schwartz. Gerry Kandestin and friends will perform as well as Benny and the Healers which features well-known Montreal dental surgeons Benny Saleh and Dr. Sylvio Caro. Who Cares promises to wow the crowd with Rory Olson and NEW this year, the addition of his daughter Sam. Andy Nulman will once again MC both nights and perform with Sam I Am.
