The Centre recognizes the importance of religious faith among the elderly and makes every effort to provide an atmosphere of traditional Jewish observance.
A part-time Rabbi/Chaplain directs all pastoral counselling. Morning prayers are held daily in the newly appointed Synagogue on the main floor of the building, as well as Sabbath services on Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening. An Oneg Shabbat takes place regularly on Friday afternoons.
Maimonides celebrates all major Jewish holidays and makes every effort to create the specific ambience relevant to the festival being celebrated. In addition, Jewish tradition, customs and practices are reflected in many activities for residents.
INTERCULTURAL
In response to the growing number of residents of Sephardic origin, the Centre provides separate worship services for both Ashkenazi and Sephardic residents during the High Holydays and offers services of a Sephardic Rabbi on a part-time basis.
In addition, there is increasing Sephardic-related content in several recreational activities.
KASHRUT
The Centre serves only kosher food and Jewish dietary laws are strictly observed. A mashgiach, under the supervision of the Vaad Ha'ir, is present on a regular basis.
